NOT A HOTEL FUKUOKA

The first urban condominium by "NOT A HOTEL", known as a rentable villa.
As it is in a residential area, we designed as a three-dimensional urban space accommodating diversity of lifestyle where each room has a different concept, instead of a single large structure.
The front garden, which seamlessly connected to the front park, mediates and transits smoothly from the tranquility of rooms to the lively urban environment. While the entire facility maintains a sense of unity, each eight rooms has a different concept and design.
To maintain a sense of openness while ensuring privacy, we studied the layout of each room with 3D model studies of the surrounding environment, the views from each room and the sight lines from adjacent buildings. Through repeated modifications of opening heights and landscaping, we have achieved a calm like mountain retreat within the city, while enjoying the convenience of the urban location.

It plays a pivotal role in the region's viticulture landscape, spearheading the vibrant wine tourism scene in Ningxia. Local inspirations are woven intricately throughout the interior design, from interpretations of coir-rope weaving to motifs inspired by ancient rock art and Chinese paper cutting (Jianzhi), celebrating the region's cultural depth. Upon arrival, guests traverse through vineyards to reach an open courtyard leading to the Wine Cellar Lobby. This grand entrance features a tall, voluminous space with dramatic sunlight coming through an oculus, designed to immerse visitors in the ambiance of wine and music culture. Starting from the inspiration of a nearby courtyard-style ancient architectural complex with gorgeous natural landscapes, the hotel integrates local history and culture, nature and aesthetics into the space, interpreting the oriental courtyard with natural materials to provide a place to rest the soul and create an urban micro-vacation lifestyle.

By using modern design techniques, cultural features such as sloping roof, gray tiles, log walls and bamboo weaving art are transformed into artistic elements of space, serving as distinguishing points for different functional spaces. Local and eco-friendly materials are used to highlight simplicity and return to nature, drawing on ancient methods and folk crafts to rediscover history. The design focuses on people's physical and mental health, meeting the functional and spiritual needs of different guests. By designing according to local conditions and materials, it found a symbiosis between local and international, traditional and contemporary elements.

Here, we embark on an exploration of modern civilisation based on naturalism, with a focus on local, to reshape the cultural community model of the town and seek the real meaning of "Living in the mountains and by the sea." As times change and residents migrate, old houses are abandoned. What we do is, based on the restoration of existing buildings, use locally common natural building materials to maintain the unity of the project's locality, thereby creating a shared community concept that integrates living, leisure, and commerce.
