With the concept of “reshaping the everyday-life” as the main axis, the functional requirements are clarified, the spatial structure is planned, the advantages of day lighting are amplified and the circulation space is created, so that the air and natural light can nourish the indoor environment, and change the viewing perspective. Throughout the changes of those subtle textures, the dynamic texture and different levels are highlighted, and in the regular layout form, the surrounding life rituals are connected, and family members can be both independent individuals and extremely intimate groups. In the selection of hard-packed materials, the integrity of the space and the texture of the material itself are mainly highlighted.

'Undulating Compact Home' embodies order through precise and modest design elements. It was designed to minimize friction among family members by incorporating an integrated design approach to conceal the belongings of busy parents in a compact Hong Kong-sized apartment, creating a gentle environment for their baby.
Its central undulating wall unifies the spatial flow, acts as a wayfinding feature, and conceals and integrates a bathroom, cabinetry, and mechanical systems. It is fabricated from oak veneer to keep the apartment well-lit and soft at the corners, making it suitable for the new baby.
The addition of ‘horizontal’ storage systems on top of conventional ‘vertical’ ones give the illusion of a bigger home by maximizing empty wall space. For example, the designers incorporated hydraulic hardware to lift up the master bedroom floor, creating storage underneath for off-season clothes.
Hence, plentiful storage does not detract from an elegant, soft, sensual and minimalist interior.

Family members can freely work here, showcase their creativity, or interact leisurely. This dining space combined with an open kitchen is not just where people eat, but a spiritual hub of the entire family life.

The residential project, located in a quiet area of Taipei City and built in the 1990s, is owned by a married couple with a daughter. Inspired by Japanese clean minimalism, the design features clean lines, geometric structures, and warm materials like oak wood and stucco. The original, illogical floor plan was transformed to create an open, yet private space. The 56-square-meter home is narrow, so a large square box was designed to contain storage and separate private and public areas. A centrally placed dining table, inspired by the round table concept, connects the living area and kitchen. The kid’s room features a foldable bed, which maximizes space for play and study when folded.

The designer deconstructs the original layout, allowing light to penetrate the space and flow with the air, injecting it into everyday life. All activities in the space become gentle and auspicious moments in life. To emphasize the play of light and shadow, the entire space adopts a colorless scheme, using paint and micro-cement flooring to create a comfortable living environment. Cats are another mobile protagonist in the space, with areas planned for their leisure, such as window views overlooking the river. Starting from the curved shelf behind the refrigerator, a cat tunnel extends through the walls to the bedroom window, even incorporating cat perches on pillars, ensuring cats have access to optimal spaces throughout the home. The pervasive curved lines in the space create a sense of fluidity and rhythm, seamlessly integrating into the environment with a sense of naturalness and harmony.
