Ms. Katherine Faulkner

Founding Principal, NADAAA

Founding Principal, NADAAA Katherine Faulkner, AIA, LEED AP, is a founding principal of NADAAA, a Boston-based architecture and urban design firm.

Since 2011, she has directed efforts to extend NADAAA’s geographic reach and capacity to deliver large projects.

For the past four years NADAAA has been placed in the top three design firms in the United States by Architect Magazine's Top 50 Firms ranking.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Faulkner received her MArch from Harvard’s GSD and an MBA from Boston University, and has been working for over 20 years on a range of project types.

Faulkner is currently managing principal for The University of Toronto’s DFALD project, a large tower project for MIT, and a tower project in Cleveland, Ohio.

Faulkner’s work has been recognized with notable awards, including the 2014 Holcim Award, three Green Good Design Awards; five Progressive Architecture Awards; as well as numerous AIA, BSA, and other international awards.

Ted Givens

Design Partner, 10 Design

Design Partner, 10 Design Ted Givens is Design Partner at 10 DESIGN heading up the studio’s Environmental Research Group.

With more than 20 years of experience, he has worked on projects around the world ranging in scale from beach houses in LA to five kilometer square resort towns in the Middle East and from single structure cultural buildings to large scale mixed use developments in Asia.

Ted’s work has won over 20 international awards, the most recently being the Hong Kong AIA Merit award for the Dalian Public Library in China and HKIA Merit award for the Fujian Photonic College in Xiamen, China.

Research, design innovation, and collaboration are key drivers behind Ted's work. Ted leads the research group of 10 DESIGN.

Recent explorations include a building skin that purifies the air, a collapsible/tornado proof suburb, and a famine resistant house/sustainable homeless community.

Ted has been lecturing about the concept of “Beyond Neutrality” at events such as: Archi-Fest Shanghai, 100% Design Shanghai, Tongji University, the Hunan Chamber of Commerce, and Sanchi Lake opening festival.

His recent research on ‘Redefining Hong Kong’s Waterfront’ has been widely published.

It is an iconic vision on how to establish a more ecological way of living through sustainability, innovation, and creativity.

The vision also explores the possibility of making a 420m super high rise entirely self-sustaining in terms of electricity and water.

Collaboration and interaction with universities is a critical component of the work of Ted and 10 DESIGN.

Ted co-taught a studio with Professor Stephen Lau of Hong Kong University that met in 10’s Hong Kong office every Friday in 2012.

Ted has also been an external reviewer at CUHK for the past 3 years reviewing and critiquing student projects.

The work of Ted and 10 DESIGN has received extensive press in publications such as the Boston Globe, ABC news, Frame Magazine, Mark Magazine, Evolo Magazine, Wallpaper, Fast Company, and many other paper and digital sources.

Eugenio Lanzetta

Founder and Partner, Amalart

Founder and Partner, Amalart Eugenio Lanzetta was born in 1973 in Italy.

In 1999 he received a degree in law from the University of Pisa and after that he made a master in Communication and Media.

After that he started an extraordinary career in Marketing and Communication, being very soon the head of Communication of several companies in Italy.

Eugenio is also the Founder and Partner at Amalart (www.amalart.it), Communication & Marketing Manager for years engaged in sharing in the field of cultural heritage and historical-artistic Italian and foreign, through enhancement projects and art campaigns of any kind of art and design.Eugenio is an independent curator and art writer based in Milan (Italy).Eugenio create a project based on a 360° communication around the artworks, enriching the vision of the viewer and his relationship with the artworks, all within a dedicated Amalart community.

Eugenio has the privilege of representing a symbiosis between a gallery, an art marketing agency and a market place for sale and virtual interactions.

Nic Banks

Founding Director, Atelier Pacific

Founding Director, Atelier Pacific A multi-disciplinary architectural design studio whose specific expertise lies in maximizing and enhancing the usability of spaces.

Nic obtained his first degree, with honours, in Civil and Structural Engineering at Sheffield University in the United Kingdom, followed by a Master of Arts Interior Design post-graduate degree at Leicester Polytechnic, also in the U.K.

He has worked with the architectural and design practices of Lees Associates and Trickett Associates in London, Studio Citterio Dwan and Studio De Lucchi in Milan, and Sir Norman Foster & Partners in Hong Kong where he led one of the design teams responsible for the passenger terminal building at Hong Kong's new airport.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers of London and has lectured on design at Leeds and Leicester Polytechnics in the U.K., The Chinese University and the Polytechnic University in Hong Kong and Shenzen University in China.

He has produced articles for a number of journals and his work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, New York and Lake Maggiore, Italy, and featured in a number of prominent publications.

Antony Chan

Founder and Creative Director, CREAM

Founder and Creative Director, CREAM Antony CHAN, Founder and Creative Director of CREAM, is a registered architect in both UK & France.

When returned to Hong Kong in 1998, Chan established his own award‐winning architecture and interior design firm, Cream.

His clients range from top hospitality management groups, real estate developers, brand owners and private clients.

His acclaimed projects won continuously in various internationally renowned awards such as iF Design Award, German Design Award, Asia Pacific Interior Design Award and Interior Design Best of Year Award by Interior Design Magazine.Chan prefers to recognize himself as “Creator of Poetic Space”.

As he said, “Design is not decoration, merely drawing walls and furnishing a room.

It is about offering unique perspectives, developing organic ideas about function and form, and unleashing imagination while managing the pragmatic aspects of resources, manpower and schedule.

What I am interested in exploring is the poetics of space.”As an Immediate Past Chairman of Hong Kong Interior Design Association, Chan endeavors to promote and develop the interior design profession in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Tino Kwan

Principal Consultant of Tino Kwan Lighting Consultants

Principal Consultant of Tino Kwan Lighting Consultants Internationally acclaimed lighting designer Tino Kwan is regarded as one of the world’s most celebrated masters.

His glazing work can be found in landscapes across the globe, from commercial buildings, super yachts, to the most luxurious hotels, casinos, and private homes.

Over the past 45 years, he has accumulated numerous accolades from all over the world, including Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA), Top 10 Designers Award from China National Interior Decoration Association (CIDA), as well as being inducted into the Interior Design China’s Hall of Fame.

Kwan founded Tino Kwan Lighting Consultants in London in 1979, and the company now has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo.

Some of his most significant work includes Regent Hotel Hong Kong, St Regis Hong Kong, Sai Sha Go Park, IFC Mall Hong Kong, Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, Shangri-La Shougang Park Beijing, Raffles Hotel Singapore, Four Seasons Seoul, and The Peninsula Tokyo.

Today, Kwan is one of the most influential figures and has made tremendous contributions to the industry, providing design and advice for lighting and smart control manufacturers worldwide.

Kwan has been giving lectures at design institutes in Hong Kong and the Tsinghua University in Beijing since 2008, and is keen to pass on his knowledge and to create opportunities for young designers.

He is also actively involved in the Asia Pacific Hotels Design Association, a platform for international hotel designers and hoteliers.

Kwan served as its Vice President from 2010 to 2016 and is currently as President since 2016.

Lam Wai Ming

Founder and Design Director, Design Systems Ltd.

Started his design career over 20 years ago, Ming now holds studios in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

He likes crafting spatial environment with detail design, light and shadow, textures and material treatment techniques.

Apart from interior design, he also enjoys designing products, installations and furniture.

His wide-ranging projects have won him over 100 awards to this date.

Outside of studio works, Ming has taught at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Art School.

His articles and theoretical columns have been published in design magazines and websites.

John Sellery

Group Managing Director, M Moser Associates

Group Managing Director, M Moser Associates John has been at the forefront of architecture and interior design for over 30 years.

As Group Managing Director at M Moser Associates, he has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s strategy-led, multi-disciplinary approach since his arrival in Hong Kong in 1989.After studying architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, John began his professional career working on a wide range of building projects.

Deeply influenced by his background as a carpenter during his university days, his approach is akin to that of a ‘Master Builder’; rather than working purely on the architectural aspect of a project, he leads collaborative teams who design, engineer and construct buildings or spaces as a single integrated source of expertise.He has continued to develop and refine this approach at M Moser where his leadership spans Asia, China, India, the UK and the USA.

Since its founding in 1981, the firm has designed and constructed 100 millions of square feet of corporate workplace environments for clients.John is registered with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board and is a member of Hong Kong Interior Design Association and the American Institute of Architects.

Creative and Programme Director, PMQ Senior Consultant, Hong Kong Design Centre William spent 18 years in the advertising industry in Hong Kong.

He joined Hong Kong Design Centre in 2005 and is responsible for their flagship events – Business of Design Week (BODW), Knowledge of Design Week (KODW) and Design for Asia Awards (DFAA 2006-08).In Aug 2012, while retaining his role as a senior consultant to Hong Kong Design Centre, William joined PMQ – a newly launched creative platform for design entrepreneurs.

He is responsible for curating events and programs on site and collaborating with overseas partners.

Since its opening in April 2014, PMQ has recorded 10 million visitors and quickly became the most talked about destination of our city.
